# Anamorphic Lens

I don't know exactly when this started. Probably would have been when I saw JJ Abram's Super 8. The lens flares in it swept me right off my feet.

The more I watched movies, there were some movies with great aesthetics that just made me go, "That's Cinema". Apparently most of those movies were shot in anamorphic lens.

Anamorphic + Shot on film is the 🔥

The grainy texture of film with the epic scope that anamorphic gives is a damn good experience, like that in the case of 'The Batman'

I am trying to learn more about anamorphic lens and why it makes the movie look so damn good.

PTA's "Punch Drunk Love" literally plays around with anamorphic lens flare and I can't get enough of it.

In Malayalam, "Lucifer" was shot on anamorphic lens. Again, I guess Prithviraj chose that to create the epicness in each frame which a movie like Lucifer demanded.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.sjaykh.in/curiosity/movies-and-shows/film-making/anamorphic-lens.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
